Whether it was a blessing in disguise or not, the incident certainly served as an important turning point in his life. It made him be subjected to chose a different path, so as one of the most renowned artists in the world. Born on 3 July 1962 in Syracuse, New York, he is the third child and only son of Thomas Cruise Maphoter III and Mary Lee Pfeiffer. Together with his three sisters, Lee Anne, Marian, and Cass Mapother, Tom spent his early life living in different places, partly due to his father's profession as an electrical engineer. The family had emigrated from Ottawa; Louisville, Kentucky, and Wayne, New Jersey, before they finally in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. At that time, his parents were divorced and Mary Lee again a man named Joseph South.

Once in a dozen different schools, Tom often encountered difficulties when reading text, thus came to a realization that he had a learning disorder called dyslexia. He then focused his attention on sports in his study in Glen Ridge High School. It was during this time that he had the injury forced him to leave the school wrestling team. Moreover, it prevents the pursuit of a career in sports. Knowing this, he began to look for another area that he could fit in. It turned out that acting was a decent choice, so he decided to take a further look by the accession of the school setting. Acting apparently turned out that for the upkeep of the need to compete and gain attention but also helped him cope with his dyslexia as memorization aspect improved his concentration and motivational skills. Having enjoyed his performance in the student's musical project of "Guys and Dolls", he decided to set up a professional career.

As determined to meet his dream, Tom went to New York after his high school degree in 1980. This was the time shortened, if his first name, Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, a stylish name of Tom Cruise. To support his life, he worked intensively as bus boy, a porter and a table-cleaning equipment. He later used some of the money to study drama at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse, taught by both Sanford Meisner and Phil Gushee, the remarkable trainers. Gradually developed his skills, he began several auditions, finally made his way to a role in a musical play called "Godspell". His performance impressed an Italian film director Franco Zeffirelli, later, offered him a small role in "Endless Love" (1981). Following the signing by Paula Wagner of Creative Artists Agency, he went on to play supporting characters in "Taps" (1981) and "The Outsiders" (1983).

Tom earned his first major role in a comedy film entitled "Losin 'It" (1983). But it was "Risky Business" (1983) led to his name began to sound, especially for its excellent work and attractive appearance either the people had raised interest. He continued to perform brilliantly in "All The Right Moves," came in the same year. The machine started to mark him as one of the "Brat Pack", a group of young actors in their twenties, were predicted to rule the film industry in the early 1980s. This was in fact correct and properly dealt with him as he earned his first nomination in Golden Globe Award for best performance by an actor in a Motion Picture Comedy / Musical in 1984. In 1986, Tom created a sensation by his role as Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in Tony Scott's "Top Gun". Becoming a box-office, this particular film brought him to success and gain global popularity.

After receiving what he dreamed, Tom tried to maintain his career by careful selection of his tasks ahead. He picked up even more serious challenge as characters in "The Color of Money" (1986), "Rain Man" (1988) and "Born on the Fourth of July" (1989). The latter led him to a Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture - Drama in 1990. Meanwhile, he also received a nomination for Best Actor in BAFTA awards as well as Academy Awards during the year. Something stumbled in "Cocktail" (1988), "Days of Thunder" (1990) and "Far and Away" (1992), he kept moving, quickly recovered from the main role in "A Few Good Men" (1992) turned the register as a Box office hit and was critically acclaimed. More than that the film also granted him a nomination at the 1993 Golden Globe Awards, this time for the category of Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture - Drama. In the same year he worked with Wagner to form Cruise / Wagner Productions, goes one step ahead of many other actors, a film producer.

Following the lead role in "The Firm" (1993), he was a vampire named Lestat in "Interview with the Vampire" (1994), was the adaptation of Anne Rice's best-seller novel. His decision to cast the film has some protests from both the author and the book fans because of his physical appearance, was quite different from Rice's Lestat description. This problem was solved when Rice finally accepted to witness the casting Tom's performance. The year 1996 marked his first venture in film production through "Mission: Impossible" (1996), which he also played in. A short time later, he joined in "Jerry Maguire" (1996) alongside Renée Zellweger and Cuba Gooding Jr.. All these films proved to be the top-grossing films of the scored more than 105 million U.S. dollars in domestic release. Tom therefore became the first actor in history to be in movies with such a performance five times in succession.

In 1997, Tom was granted, another Golden Globe Award of Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy / musical for his role in "Jerry Maguire". He was also considered one of the nominees for best actor in a leading role in Academy Awards. He reiterated once again the same realization less than four years by "Magnolia" (1999), only this time in the category supporting role. The 21st Century was a glorious time for Tom, because he had acquired dual success as an actor and producer in "Mission: Impossible II" (2000), "Vanilla Sky" (2001) and "The Last Samurai" (2003). The latter led him to be nominated for the best performance by an actor in a Motion Picture - Drama 2004 in the Golden Globe Awards. Having played as head of the police officer in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi film entitled "Minority Report" (2002), he surprised if decided to create a contrasting role as a hit man named Vincent in "Collateral" (2004). "I've never played a character like this before," he said. "Vincent interested me because it is such an antisocial personality, bringing destruction and chaos with him wherever he goes. He is a force of nature."

Tom once more in common with Spielberg in the summer of 2005 blockbuster movie "War of the Worlds." By July, this action sci-fi has more than 190 million U.S. dollars, prove that he was a Hollywood superstar, not lose its charm and quality. With a view to its representation of the many characters he plays, Tom apparently has developed what is considered a so-called "Generic Tom Cruise character." Some film fans and critics have noticed that at the beginning of this role is a self-centered and haughty people who only care about themselves, but in the end turns out that a better person for a radical change. This feature can be found in its most popular films as "Rain Man", "Jerry Maguire", "The Last Samurai" and "War of the Worlds." According to the "War of the Worlds" Tom's next project was "Mission: Impossible 3" (2006), in the same scene with Laurence Fishburne, Ving Rhames, Keri Russell. Once again, the role as producer of this second sequel to "Mission: Impossible", he said the same status in the films "Elizabethtown" (2005) and "Ask the Dust" (2006).

Besides his career as an actor and producer Tom's private life creates the same feeling as those of its activities in the field. Formerly known by the actress of the TV series "Little House on the Prairie" (1974-1983), Melissa Gilbert, he had lived together with an actress named Rebecca De Mornay striking from 1983 to 1985. On 9 May 1987, he married Mimi Rogers, for the first time at Paul Newman's Road Racing Classic Show in Georgia. Spending three years of togetherness, this couple decided to end their marriage in February 1990. It was not too long before he found a new love in Nicole Kidman, his counter-part in "Days of Thunder". By the end of 1990, they proclaimed themselves as husband and wife. This beautiful couple then starred together in "Far and Away" and "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999). In January 1993, Tom and Nicole adopted a baby girl they named Isabella Jane Kidman Cruise. It followed the adoption of Connor Anthony Kidman Cruise two years later.

Happily married for ten years, Tom suddenly a shocking decision to divorce Nicole legally on 8 August 2001. He thereafter from Penelope Cruz, on the contrary, his "Vanilla Sky", but the relationship lasted only for 3 years. In April 2005, he was discovered, along with Katie Holmes is sixteen years his junior, when she barely 26 on that date. Press is the suspicion that this is only as a tool to improve their advertising, but the couple decided against speculation, especially Tom. As if to prove that they are really serious thinking about their romance, the couple frightening proclaimed their commitment on 17 June this year, followed by a confirmation that Katie was pregnant. The couple then joyfully welcomed the birth of her child, a daughter named Suri Cruise, 18 April 2006. There is not much published on the baby people started to suspect that they actually do not exist. All of the speculation was finally shot down with the release of Suri photos shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibowitz, 5 September 2006. Shown by Katie Couric during her first night as anchor of the CBS "Evening News With Katie Couric", the photos were certainly more than enough to feed the curiosity of people who roamed around for months automatically shut down the ill rumours surrounded the baby existence.

As one of Hollywood's most popular actors, Tom has since been the subject of some interest. It was therefore not surprising if he often encountered problems, particularly on the rumors about his homosexuality. During his marriage with Nicole life he had sued two tabloids, The Star and London's Express, for the publication of false reports about their marriage. Tom, together with Nicole, won both cases, but these were apparently just the beginning of a series of other disputes. In 2001, he filed a lawsuit against Big magazine publisher, Michael Davis, has claimed that he had received a video tape of Tom in a homosexual relationship. However, he later dropped the case, as the magazine withdrawn Davis' statement, while Davis promised he would never such allegations in the future. Shortly thereafter, a porn star named Chad Slater, or known as Kyle Bradford said that he had an affair with this renowned film stars during his interview with magazine Actustar. Tom quickly a defamation suit by 10 million U.S. dollars compared to Bradford, then finally won the case, as Bradford was to pay 17 million U.S. dollars in August 2001.

Another aspect of Tom, which also came to the surface was his belief in Scientology. Tom had converted to this religion shortly after the release of "Top Gun" in 1986. As a board member of Hubbard's Hollywood Education & Literature problem (help), said that it was that Scientology had helped him to cure his dyslexia. This raised different reactions, including by the International Association of dyslexia as his statement as unscientific. Tom got more and more active promotion of the Church of Scientology teachings replaced in 2004, after his publicist, Pat Kingsley, with his sister, Lee Anne, is also a Scientologist. In June 2005, he was ignited controversy when he criticized Brooke Shields for itself in psychiatric drugs to overcome their depression. It was because he fully supports the idea of Scientology rejects the use of this type of medicine. Despite these conflicts going on in his life, without a doubt the people will always remember him as one of the most extraordinary, beautiful, and the key players in the world ever has done.

On 18 November 2006, only seven months after the arrival of baby Suri, TomKat exchanged vows in a lavish black-tie ceremony in the Odescalchi Castle on Lake Bracciano, Italy more than 150 guests. The costs nearly $ 2.5 million, the wedding has always been a hot commodity in Hollywood, dominate The Gossip pages a day after the ceremony was over. It was capable of great preparations, send kitchen, wedding souvenirs and A-list celebrity guests, the wedding extraordinary. No doubt, it was later credited as the "wedding of the year." Then put his focus back on his career, Tom wonderfully have no time to pile up more film credits to his back by signing for the "Lions for Lambs "(2007)," Valkyrie "(2009) and "The Hardy Men" ( 2009), in the meantime also seats as a producer in the former two of United Artists, the film company he has been responsible for since the end of 2006 after its split from Paramount Pictures after fourteen years of cooperation in the production of large screen title.
